My grandmother used to tell me that you should always leave somewhere better than when you found it. As a child, I always viewed that as a “pay it forward” philosophy or simply a way to be invited back as a house guest.

While that is true as well, I realized later in life that her sagely advice had broader meaning and application.

What is the ‘correct’ software solution? For many years, like most of our colleagues and competitors, we focused on “cutting edge” technology which comes with the promise of increased productivity and efficiency.

We have always offered solutions that utilized these new technologies, but we believe there is more to solving a problem than simply the technology behind it.

Every project must add value

I started Taylor Summit Consulting with one guiding principle that encapsulates our purpose as a software consulting firm: every project must add value. It sounds simple enough, but in practice, it can be an incredibly arduous task.

Software should be an investment not simply an expense.

And before a single line of code is written, we should know what the return on that investment is going to be.

From the top of our organization to our junior developers, everyone is focused on the goal of adding value to our clients. To us, simply delivering software on time and on budget is not success. Delivering value via a software project is our definition of success.
